About the session

There is abundant evidence that algorithms, products and services uphold bias, and discrimination, and maintain the status quo. What could the future look like if we hacked these harmful ways of working?

This workshop uses the Oracle for Transfeminist Technologies card deck to spark creative visions and ideas for the future of Transfeminist tech. The cards, created by Coding Rights and the Design Justice Network, are embedded with values which help us foresee futures where technology is designed by people who are often excluded by technology.

Small groups will imagine alternative futures and creative destruction of current design practices for more caring, inclusive, affirming, autonomous technologies, and identify the changes they are accountable to act on now.

Participant takeaways:

  • An understanding of feminist design principles
  • Insights about your own design approaches and mindsets for feminist design
  • A speculative future idea, product, service or situation, created collaboratively

Themes:

Your practice, AI impact on UX, Equitable design practice, Design ethics, Design leadership, Inclusivity and accessibility, Design justice, Ethics, Having time to think, UX and gaming, Creating inclusive experiences
