About the session
Theme: Design Leadership, Change, Technology, AI
Ben Holliday spoke at the very first UX Scotland conference and is returning for our 10th edition.
Over the past decade, it sometimes feels like everything has changed in design and UX. Technology continues to change expectations and ways of working. Design and its role in how we work with technology has become more political than ever before. And the wider permacrisis we're all living through creates new and difficult challenges for society.
But while everything has changed, one thing remains the same: the need for good design. This is how we find the ideas, inspiration, skills and leadership needed for the next decade and beyond.
In this talk, Ben will share his reflections on the UX and design industry and what it means to lead design in an AI-era. He will focus on how we find ways to be optimistic, the importance of the role design continues to play, and how we find positive ways forward when responding to change with our teams and organisations.
Participant takeaways:
- Why we need good design – because the world has enough average.
- How good design gives us ideas to believe in and vision to work towards.
- How good design can remain connected and local, and how we work in ways that reflect this.
- How good design can be the structure for the work organisations need to deliver change in the most effective and efficient ways.
- How we can work with new technologies and AI, but without losing sight of what makes our systems and organisations human.
- Why we continually need to think differently, providing the ambition and challenge that demands something better for society.
