About this Case Study

No, not the first instalment in some dodgy J.K. Rowling spin-off series. Now I’m certainly not claiming to be awesome, but after 9 years' experience as a UXer I do know a thing or two. My role as Head of UX is not simply to implement UX processes and ideas but to inspire the business; to make other teams as passionate about UX as me (or you); to place UX at the very heart of the business. To achieve awesomeness I have a plan - I want to share that with you.

About the Speaker

I'm Lee Summerfield: 44 years old, married with 2 boys and 2 step-daughters and I’ve been a creative all my life. I graduated with an English degree at 20 and trained to be a croupier with dreams of travelling the world. In reality, a chance trip to California in 1997 lead me to becoming a web designer in a London agency and my life in design began. In the last 21 years, I’ve held a variety of different roles across the digital sector and I've been a UX’er for 9 years.

To relax and unwind, one of my passions is painting, which I’ve been doing since I turned 40 - I’ve had exhibitions across the UK. I’m a very keen chef and love cooking for my family and trying out new things. I also love a Long Island iced tea and my claim to fame is that I shook the hand that shook the world when I met Muhammed Ali.
