- challenges we faced and lessons learnt along the way
- methods and tools we use to have a deep understanding of individual team member needs and aspirations
- team activities and rituals we have experimented with and their challenges
- how we engaged the team in shaping how we work
- on-boarding and support which has allowed the team to grow quickly

About the Speakers
Joanne is the UX Director at Orange Bus, a digital agency specialising in user-centric service and product design. During her time at Orange Bus, Joanne has increased the UX team from just herself to 35 and counting, with ambitious plans to continue to grow the team.
With over 12 years of industry experience, Joanne has supported organisations such as the BBC, NHS and Teachers’ Pensions to better understand their customers and to design digital services and products that meet their needs, whilst maintaining the human element and engagement.
Joanne is passionate about following a research-driven approach to bridge the gap between both business and customer needs, unveiling new opportunities and selecting appropriate cutting-edge digital technologies along the way.
Channeling empathy and insight, Anna adopts an integral role in the design of services that benefit both end users and the organisations that create them. She has a passion for bringing a user-centred approach not just to the end user, but to the teams that deliver the services they use.
Anna uses creative and engaging methods to educate and drive change. She has supported organisations such as the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, Teachers’ Pensions and Capita to adopt this way of thinking and act on their understanding.
As Lead UX Designer at digital agency Orange Bus, Anna has implemented this approach to lead a growing UX team to deliver user-centred design across the public and private sectors.
Prior to this she was a senior user researcher in government, where she designed and used creative methodologies to deliver better services, most recently to support bereaved people for the Department for Work and Pensions.
